Short description of the blog

Greetings from Oregon State University!

March 25, 2009 07:35 by rsanderson

Greetings from Oregon State!  I am a new blogger at Student Voice and want to give you a brief introduction.  As the Director of Student Affairs Research and Evaluation here I work with people in all of the Student Affairs units and departments on assessment plans, reports, and collaborative ventures as well as a variety of university level assessment projects.  I also am in the unique position of serving on several university-level committees with faculty who are committed to improving the student experience.  These opportunities allow me not only to contribute a student affairs voice to these conversations but also to better understand the viewpoints of faculty and how the academic and student affairs perspectives converge.

My greatest joy in my position is working with the Student Affairs Assessment Council.  In future blogs I’ll tell you about this group and the wonderful work that they do.  I also hope to talk with you about some of the things that are on my mind as I continue to think about our work and how we can better educate our students.

Oh, I hope to also use this blog to solicit resources from readers and also to share some of the great resources that I have come across related to student learning and assessment.  So to start this resource sharing, I ran across a great SPSS tutorial on the web at:  http://calcnet.mth.cmich.edu/org/spss/toc.htm

Best,

Rebecca

Welcome to BlogEngine.NET 1.3

December 21, 2007 18:00 by Admin

If you see this post it means that BlogEngine.NET 1.3 is running and the hard part of creating your own blog is done. There is only one thing you need to do from this point on to take full advantage of the blog and that is to set up the first author profile.

Write Permissions

To be able to log in to the blog and writing posts, you need to enable write permissions on the App_Data folder. If you’re blog is hosted at a hosting provider, you can either log into your account’s admin page or call the support. You need write permissions on the App_Data folder because all posts and comments are saved as XML files and placed in the App_Data folder.

Username and password

When you've got write permissions to the App_Data folder, you need to change the username and password. Find the sign-in link located either at the bottom or top of the page depending on your current theme and click it. Now enter "admin" in both the username and password fields and click the button. You will now see an admin menu appear. It has a link to the "Users" admin page. From there you can change the username and password.

On the web

You can find BlogEngine.NET on the official website. Here you'll find tutorials, documentation, tips and tricks and much more. The ongoing development of BlogEngine.NET can be followed at CodePlex where the daily builds will be published for anyone to download.

Good luck and happy writing.
