In recent years, student affairs professionals have increased efforts to intentionally assess their services and programs. While larger institutions may have resources to hire staff specifically for this purpose, small colleges and universities are faced with unique challenges as they undertake this important endeavor. The facilitators of this webinar will discuss findings from their recent research on the conditions at small colleges and universities that promote assessment practices within student affairs divisions while also offering strategies for conducting assessment within the small college environment.
About the presenters:

Mr. Beau Seagraves is the Assistant Dean for Student Support at the University of Georgia, where he is also pursuing his Ph.D. in College Student Affairs Administration. Prior to arriving at UGA, Beau served as the Director of Residence Life and Summer Programs at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC and a Housing Area Coordinator at Furman University in Greenville, SC.

Dr. Laura Dean is an Assistant Professor in the College Student Affairs Administration program at the University of Georgia. Prior to arriving at UGA, Laura served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer at Peace College in Raleigh, NC and Pfeffier University in Misenheimer, NC.

About the presenter:

Carrie L. Zelna has a Ph. D. in Educational Research and Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University and a Master of Science degree in Counseling and Human Development from Radford University. Carrie has held positions in student affairs for the past twelve years including work with University Housing and the Office of Student Conduct. She is currently the Director of Student Affairs Research and Assessment at NC State University. In her roles as an assessment professional, Carrie has served as a consultant for assessing both curricular and co-curricular programs, and she currently serves as the NASPA Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Knowledge Community co-chair.
