Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of technology support do we need to utilize StudentVoice?
StudentVoice offers a hosted platform that requires minimal technology support from campus Information Technology departments or staff members. In the instances where your campus opts to utilize PDA technology to collect data, a piece of PDA and StudentVoice software will need to be loaded on a computer in order to hot sync the PDA before and after data collection.
Is data stored on StudentVoice secure?
StudentVoice has implemented various security measures at the application, network, and physical level to ensure that data will not be compromised. At the application level, several security measures and coding standards are in place such as code to guard against common hacking techniques, rules related to strength of passwords, and staying up-to-date on all security and release updates. Protection at the network level includes features such as dual firewalls, SSL encryption, and 24/7 monitoring. StudentVoice servers are housed within a Class A Data Center, compliant with TIA standards. The servers are always staffed, have three-tiered access points, and 24/7 camera surveillance.
Can StudentVoice send out a mass mailing that contains a link to my assessment project?
Yes, StudentVoice can assist with mass mailings and mask the e-mail to make it look like it is coming from you or your department. To ensure the successful delivery of any online assessments via e-mail, we suggest that StudentVoice’s server be whitelisted and allowed to deliver e-mails to your campus server. If whitelisting does not occur, e-mail from the StudentVoice server could be blocked as spam. For additional information about whitelisting, please contact your on-campus Information Technology department.
How do we get our data out of StudentVoice?
Assessment results, including graphs and saved views, can be exported into Word, Excel, or a PDF file for inclusion in reports or presentations to share with colleagues and other audiences. The raw data file is available in an Excel or text file for additional data analysis.
Is your software ADA compliant?
StudentVoice has put forth the appropriate measures to ensure that our proprietary web survey application achieves the level of compliance necessary for W3C WAI ‘AA’ and 508 Accessibility Standards. The StudentVoice system adheres to these standards to ensure persons with visual disabilities can participate and complete online assessments. StudentVoice’s web survey application has been tested at several campuses to ensure compatibility with screen readers and text magnifiers such as JAWS® and ZoomText®.
