Combining Data in Meaningful Ways
StudentVoice has partnered with Outside the Classroom, the leader in online alcohol prevention, to provide colleges and universities a holistic understanding of the relationship between drinking and students' academic and personal success.
Since its inception, Outside The Classroom has been committed to tackling the single greatest problem facing today's colleges and universities – high risk drinking. Outside the Classroom provides institutions and students with the tools, resources, and training they need to reduce alcohol-related risk and the health, safety, and financial costs associated with it.
Now, the integration of StudentVoice's comprehensive assessment platform with the country's largest and most comprehensive dataset on college drinking will give institutions the opportunity to explore the relationship between student alcohol use and key student affairs issues, such as retention, academic success, and student satisfaction.
StudentVoice members who also use Outside The Classroom will be able to integrate their AlcoholEdu for College survey data with data from other assessment projects allowing them to better understand and improve the entire student experience. For example, data related to new student orientation, residential life, academic expectations, and student involvement may be combined with AlcoholEdu data on students' drinking patterns and behaviors. Future plans include the ability to use our CollegiateLink platform to organize and promote alcohol programming.
Member Campuses that are not currently using Outside The Classroom now have the chance to evaluate an alcohol prevention program that seamlessly links to existing campus assessment efforts.
Starting immediately, institutions using Outside The Classroom's AlcoholEdu program will gain access to their data through the StudentVoice assessment platform, which provides powerful opportunities for internal cross-project reporting and external cross-campus benchmarking. Thus Outside The Classroom users can better "tell the story" about their prevention efforts, especially around progress made or challenges that require additional support and resources.
This partnership opens up unprecedented opportunities for colleges and universities to connect data in meaningful ways and ultimately gain a perspective on the student experience that had not previously been possible.
