NODA is “an international association comprised of professional administrators, students, faculty, and related organizations.” Its mission is “to provide education, leadership and professional development in the fields of college student orientation, transition, and retention.” In coordination with StudentVoice, NODA has developed an Orientation Benchmarking Assessment available for member campuses. There are three types of
membership available.
Networks provide opportunities for members to get involved in a group that focuses on a specific personal or institutional interest. They also provide information on present and future trends of new college students and their institutions. “Networks conduct surveys, compile information directories, and apprise members of publications, resources, and conferences which specifically address needs of the identified students or institutional group.” Also available for members are Regions that are distinguished by geographic location and hold annual professional development conferences.
Assessment
All of NODA’s assessment initiatives are geared toward developing and enhancing orientation programming. It has developed a national benchmarking study that
StudentVoice administers annually to any campus that is interested in participating. Reports are provided for all participating campuses. NODA views assessment as a necessary tool for providing information to its members to aid in policy and programming decisions.
