Ted Elling
Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Dr. Ted Elling is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs for Research and Systems Development at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His current responsibilities include coordinating research, assessment and information technology efforts for the division in addition to serving as the senior projects manager of various division and university wide initiatives. He received his Ed.D. in Higher and Adult Education from Teachers College, Columbia University with an emphasis in Student Personnel Administration. His research interests include data integration to enable assessment and program evaluation, first year student retention and graduation rate issues. He has published in the areas of minority student retention, information technology and the influence of work on college student development.
Gavn Henning
Associate Director for Assessment, Office of Institutional Research
Dartmouth College
Gavin Henning is the Associate Director for Assessment, Office of Institutional Research, at Dartmouth College. In this current position, he supports student learning and development by initiating division-wide assessment efforts and supporting assessment projects within individual departments. Along with student affairs assessment, Gavin has experience in residential life, judicial affairs, and institutional research and currently serves as chair of the ACPA Commission for Assessment and Evaluation. Gavin’s work has been published in professional journals.

As a contributing author of the ACPA Assessment Skills and Knowledge (ASK) Standards, a teacher, a consultant, and presenter at regional and national conferences, Gavin attempts to empower and enable student affairs educators to engage in assessment.

Gavin holds a B.S. in Psychology and Sociology from Michigan State University, an M.A. in college and university administration from Michigan State University, an M.A. in sociology from the University of New Hampshire, and a Ph.D. in education policy and leadership from the University of New Hampshire.

Specific professional interests include student learning assessment, higher education policy, and student conduct. Of particular interest is the relationship between students, parents, and colleges.

Malinda Matney
Senior Research Associate, Division of Student Affairs
University of Michigan - Ann Arbor
Malinda M. Matney is Senior Research Associate for the Division of Student Affairs, and has been with Student Affairs Research since 2000. Dr. Matney is also a Lecturer in the Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Matney earned her Ph.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from the University of Michigan. She also holds an Education Specialist in higher education administration from the University of Missouri at Kansas City, a Master of Music in Music History from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and a bachelor’s degree in music from Wichita State University.

Her current work within the student affairs context involves both the assessment of program outcomes and the analysis of trends in student behaviors and expectations over time. This is an extension of Dr. Matney’s dissertation focus on institutional and departmental factors affecting innovative teaching practices for faculty teaching undergraduates. Her current research efforts have included work on the millennial generation, hazing behaviors, and use of social networking sites such as Facebook.

Dr. Matney also serves as the National President of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity. This fraternity, on over 200 campuses, includes approximately 5000 student members and over 75000 alumni. Dr. Matney serves as the first female president in the 89 year history of Kappa Kappa Psi.

Dr. Matney is an active member of the Association for Institutional Research, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. Dr. Matney’s previous positions include Research Associate for the National Center for Postsecondary Improvement, Living Center Director at the Kansas City Art Institute, and Assistant to the Director of the Family Learning Center and the "I Have a Dream" Foundation of Boulder County, Colorado.
Eric Reich
President

Eric Reich has led StudentVoice from its inception to its current place as the leading assessment community and technology platform in higher education. Today, Eric determines the strategic direction of StudentVoice, evaluating alliances and acquisitions that serve to grow both the capabilities and campus membership of the company.

While working towards his J.D. and M.B.A. degrees at the University at Buffalo, Eric had the experience of serving as the student representative on the University Council (the equivalent of the Board of Trustees). On the Council, Eric pioneered a system of linking assessment data to the unique challenges of colleges and universities. The resulting program was awarded the Panasci Entrepreneurial Award by the University, forming StudentVoice.
Darby Roberts
Associate Director of Student Life Studies
Texas A&M University
Darby currently serves as the Associate Director of Student Life Studies at Texas A&M University, having previously served as Assistant Director, Assessment Coordinator, and Graduate Assistant in the same department. Before joining Student Life Studies, Darby worked as an Area Coordinator in the Texas A&M Department of Residence Life and as a Hall Director at the University of Tennessee.

Darby has also taught assessment and research courses in the Student Affairs Administration and Higher Education master's program, as well as numerous resident courses.

Darby earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in business analysis and research (management information systems), a Master of Science degree in human resources management, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in educational administration, all from Texas A&M University. The title of her dissertation was Skill Development among Student Affairs Professionals in the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Region III.

Outside of her formal job duties Darby serves the Division of Student Affairs by coordinating continuing education programs and assessment for ALLIES (a GLBT safe space program), advising student organizations, serving on the ATMentors executive committee, and participating in several other committees. She is editor of the NASPA NetResults assessment section and is on the NASPA Assessment, Evaluation, and Research Knowledge Community Board. She has also been trained to facilitate StrengthsQuest.

Over the past several years, Darby has received several awards for her contributions to Texas A&M including the 2005 Division of Student Affairs Professional Staff Award, 2002 Alpha Phi Omega Distinguished Service Key, 2000 Enhancing Diversity Professional Staff Award, 2000 Fish Camp Namesake, and 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 Division of Student Affairs Outstanding Team, Group or Committee Award.

In her spare time, Darby volunteers at the local animal shelter and Texas Engineering Extension Services’ Disaster City, where she helps to train urban search and rescue volunteers and canines. Darby grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and loves to travel.
Rebecca Sanderson
Director of Student Affairs Research and Evaluation
Oregon State University
Dr. Rebecca A. Sanderson, Director of Student Affairs Research and Evaluation at Oregon State University, has held university faculty and student affairs administrative positions for over 30 years. Currently Dr. Sanderson provides leadership for the assessment of student learning in the division of student affairs at Oregon State University. She consults with division faculty and staff, facilitates workshops, and chairs the Student Affairs Assessment Council. Dr. Sanderson also is responsible for administering, analyzing and reporting the results of specific university-wide assessment and evaluation efforts. She has presented at numerous national and regional conferences on assessment, counseling services, and orientation.

Dr. Sanderson received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia with special emphasis in testing and measurement. She also holds a master's degree and bachelor's degree from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) in Counseling and Biology, respectively.
Kim Vanderlinden
Vice President, Assessment Services
StudentVoice
Kim's work at StudentVoice focuses on the design and implementation of assessment projects at institutions throughout North America. Kim is also responsible for maintaining contact with a network of student services, institutional research, and assessment professionals. Prior to joining StudentVoice, Kim coordinated student affairs assessment and provided assessment consultation to departments within student affairs at the University of Utah. She has given over 70 presentations and workshops on assessment and is currently adjunct faculty at Canisius College where she teaches a course on Research Methods and Assessment. She received her Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University and her M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from The Pennsylvania State University.
Michael Weisman
Executive Vice President, Campus Relations

Michael Weisman has been instrumental in the forward evolution of StudentVoice, assisting in strategic, operational and financial roles since its beginnings. Michael currently directs the StudentVoice Campus Relations team in delivering a consistent and integrated Member Campus experience through a unified sales and services organization.

Michael is a past winner of the Panasci Entrepreneurial Award at the University at Buffalo, where he earned his M.B.A.
